Following the success of the London, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Hong Kong Shops, the Monocle Shop New York carries the brand’s constantly evolving collection of fashion and lifestyle products as well as the new design collaborations from Oliver Spencer, the Tomorrowland x Monocle travel suit series, and the Ettinger card case.
Covering just 188 sq ft, the store, located in a red brick landmark building, features Monocle magazine’s distinctive black-and-white design format, created by Monocle’s team of designers in London. The shop also has wooden floors, a slatted oak screen built by local artist and carpenter Kenon Perry, Vitsoe shelving, and a fully retractable glass store front.

Andrew B. Myers photography - printed using a special technique, called ‘Salt print process’, which makes his photos look like paintings! Salt printing is one of the oldest processes photography has employed, pioneered by Henry Fox Talbot back in 1839. The process hasn’t changed much since then. Basically, you start by coating paper in a solution of water and sodium chloride and letting it dry.

Nachts reflektiert farbiges Licht von diesem durchlässigen Dach und auch am Tag werden, je nach Wetter, verschiedene Lichtstimmungen kreiert. Die Installation heisst „Light Stripes“ und bildet zusammen mit einer Bar, einer Bühne und gemütlichen Sitzgelegenheiten die Szenerie des Stadtmusik Festivals, das vom 4. August bis zum 5. September 2010 im Innenhof des Kunstmuseums Basel stattfindet. Besuchen! Es lohnt sich.
